Hydraulic Shearing Machines for Oman

National Cutting Tools builds hydraulic guillotine shears for cutting plate down to blanks before forming at its works in Ludhiana, Punjab, and ships them to Muscat, Sohar, Salalah, Duqm and Nizwa through Port of Sohar. The machines produce base plate blanks, gussets, cleats and stiffener plate, and are built to the geometry and tolerances called up by EN 13985 for shear safety. Every consignment for Oman is built for 415V 50 Hz with thermal overload relays sized for extended duty, since Omani fabricators often run single-shift machines into double shifts during turnaround season.

Where the demand comes from

Plate blanking for base plates and cleats supports both the scaffold trade and the structural steel scope at Sohar and Duqm. Over-width shear beds move as flat rack on the short Sohar rotation.

Shipping & crating

Shear beds are wide rather than tall; a 2500 mm shear is over-width for a standard container and moves as flat rack, so the freight line item is a real part of the landed cost. Sohar is the closest GCC discharge port to Mundra at 4 to 7 days, with the Port of Salalah as the alternative for southern Oman, discharging at Port of Sohar (OMSOH). Machines are crated to ISPM-15 heat-treated standard with desiccant and a vapour barrier, and the packing list, commercial invoice and chamber-attested Certificate of Origin travel with the consignment.

Standards & import documentation

Machines in this class normally clear customs under HS heading 8462.31. Blade clearance is set for the buyer's actual plate thickness and grade, then proved on a cut sample for burr and camber. Import clearance in Oman runs on Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) import requirements and Omani standards, with chamber-legalised documentation. The works issues the manufacturer test certificate, electrical schematic and material test report with every machine, so the buyer's submittal pack is complete on arrival rather than assembled afterwards.

Spares & after-sales support

Wear parts for this class are shear blades, back gauge drive parts, hydraulic seals and the hold-down cylinders. Oman is the shortest sea leg from western India, which matters more than it sounds: a 4 to 7 day transit makes it practical to air-freight a replacement part against a sea-freighted machine, so a breakdown is measured in days rather than weeks. Spare-part orders are quoted against the machine serial number.
