Lathe Machines for Saudi Arabia (KSA)
National Cutting Tools builds all-geared heavy-duty lathes for turning shafts, spindles, couplers and repair work on scaffold and rebar tooling at its works in Ludhiana, Punjab, and ships them to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Al Khobar, Jubail and Yanbu through King Abdulaziz Port, Dammam. The machines produce turned couplers, jack nuts, spindle repairs and die blanks, and are built to the geometry and tolerances called up by IS 1878 and DIN 8605 accuracy classes. Every consignment for Saudi Arabia is rewound for 60 Hz, which is a different motor and gearbox selection rather than a nameplate change: at 60 Hz an unmodified 50 Hz motor runs 20 percent fast, shifting cycle timing, hydraulic flow and weld travel speed.
Where the demand comes from
In-Kingdom machining capacity is explicitly encouraged under local-content rules, and turning work for the petrochemical maintenance trade at Jubail and Yanbu is continuous. A 60 Hz spindle drive is specified from the order stage rather than adapted later.
Delivered to: Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Al Khobar, Jubail, Yanbu, Mecca, Medina

Electrical build
Supply: 380V, 3-phase, 60 Hz. Rewound for 60 Hz, which is a different motor and gearbox selection rather than a nameplate change: at 60 Hz an unmodified 50 Hz motor runs 20 percent fast, shifting cycle timing, hydraulic flow and weld travel speed.
Shipping & crating
Bed length drives the container decision; a 3 metre bed lathe fits a 40 ft, longer beds go flat rack. The machine must be levelled on grout pads before the first cut. Sailings from Mundra and Nhava Sheva reach Dammam in 6 to 9 days, or Jeddah Islamic Port on the Red Sea rotation, discharging at King Abdulaziz Port, Dammam (SADMM). Machines are crated to ISPM-15 heat-treated standard with desiccant and a vapour barrier, and the packing list, commercial invoice and chamber-attested Certificate of Origin travel with the consignment.
Standards & import documentation
Machines in this class normally clear customs under HS heading 8458.11. Geometric acceptance is a levelling, taper and roundness test cut, which is why the foundation drawing is issued with the order confirmation rather than at dispatch. Import clearance in Saudi Arabia runs on SASO technical regulations declared through the SABER platform, with a Product Certificate of Conformity issued per consignment. The works issues the manufacturer test certificate, electrical schematic and material test report with every machine, so the buyer's submittal pack is complete on arrival rather than assembled afterwards.
| Conformity | SASO technical regulations declared through the SABER platform; Product Certificate of Conformity prepared per shipment. Pre-shipment inspection accepted at the Ludhiana works. |
| Tariff headings | Typical headings: 8515.31 (arc/MIG welding machines), 8459.70 (threading and tapping machines), 8462.49 (punching and notching machines), 8479.89 (special purpose machines). |
| Port (UN/LOCODE) | King Abdulaziz Port, Dammam (SADMM) |
| Incoterms offered | EXW Ludhiana, FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva, CIF Dammam or CIF Jeddah |
Spares & after-sales support
Wear parts for this class are headstock bearings, feed gears, lead screws and the chuck jaw sets. Interior sites at Riyadh and NEOM combine 50 C summer peaks with abrasive dust; coastal Jubail and Jeddah add chloride-laden humidity. Machines are specified accordingly, and the 60 Hz requirement is engineered in at the motor and pump stage. Spare-part orders are quoted against the machine serial number.
