Lathe Machines for Malaysia

National Cutting Tools builds all-geared heavy-duty lathes for turning shafts, spindles, couplers and repair work on scaffold and rebar tooling at its works in Ludhiana, Punjab, and ships them to Kuala Lumpur, Klang, Shah Alam, Johor Bahru, Pasir Gudang and Penang through Port Klang. The machines produce turned couplers, jack nuts, spindle repairs and die blanks, and are built to the geometry and tolerances called up by IS 1878 and DIN 8605 accuracy classes. Every consignment for Malaysia is supplied with tropicalised motor insulation rated for high ambient humidity, which attacks electrical windings long before it affects the mechanics.

Where the demand comes from

Turning for the Lumut and Labuan offshore fabrication yards and the general Malaysian engineering trade is local work. Machines ship with corrosion protection appropriate to a 10 to 12 day humid sea leg plus coastal storage.

Shipping & crating

Bed length drives the container decision; a 3 metre bed lathe fits a 40 ft, longer beds go flat rack. The machine must be levelled on grout pads before the first cut. Port Klang and Penang Port are served from Nhava Sheva and Mundra in 8 to 12 days, discharging at Port Klang (MYPKG). Machines are crated to ISPM-15 heat-treated standard with desiccant and a vapour barrier, and the packing list, commercial invoice and chamber-attested Certificate of Origin travel with the consignment.

Standards & import documentation

Machines in this class normally clear customs under HS heading 8458.11. Geometric acceptance is a levelling, taper and roundness test cut, which is why the foundation drawing is issued with the order confirmation rather than at dispatch. Import clearance in Malaysia runs on SIRIM QAS inspection where the buyer specifies it, Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) electrical requirements, and AIFTA Form AI where the consignment qualifies for preferential duty. The works issues the manufacturer test certificate, electrical schematic and material test report with every machine, so the buyer's submittal pack is complete on arrival rather than assembled afterwards.

Spares & after-sales support

Wear parts for this class are headstock bearings, feed gears, lead screws and the chuck jaw sets. The monsoon and constant humidity are the design constraint here, not heat. Tropicalised motor insulation is specified for the Malaysia rotation, and the ASEAN-India FTA can remove duty on qualifying headings. Spare-part orders are quoted against the machine serial number.
